Kelly's Drive Blog 6/30/08 - The Drive welcomes The Tropics Day Spa and Tanning as a sponsor this week. We'll be giving away various treatments, massages and more all week! Listen for your cue to call in and win! You deserve it. 5/28/08 - Hang out with me on Thursday and Friday and you might win tickets to the King of the Cage event at the Ute Mountain Casino, Hotel and Resort. It takes place Saturday (5/31) and I want to thank the folks at the Ute Mountain Casino for giving away the tickets on KRTZ! Today, I'll be giving away more tickets to the Jordan World Circus which takes place Sunday (6/1) at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds east of Cortez. I have a bunch of Guest Family Passes which will admit two adults and three kids to either of the two Sunday shows (1:30pm & 5:00pm). 5/27/08 - Back from vacation...had a lovely time...nose back to the grindstone now. Today, I'm starting a new feature called the "Guilty Pleasure Track of the Day". We all have music that we like, but we're ashamed to admit we like it. That's what we're doing, here. I'm looking for YOUR guilty pleasure songs. E-mail them to me and I'll "out" you on them. 5/14/08 - Okay, I'm off on vacation (or "on holiday" as the Brits would have it) starting Friday and going through Memorial Day. I'm off to the Midwest...flying from Albuquerque to Denver then to Columbus, Ohio. From there, we'll visit my wife's family in the suburban Cincinnati area of northern Kentucky. I'll be checking my e-mail, though, so if you'd like to send me a note, feel free to send it to the address above. Thanks and enjoy yourselves in my absence. 5/12/08 - I'd like you to try a new alternative beverage. It's called Honest Tea and I've been trying the various flavors, myself. It's been about a year, now, that I've had a soda and so I'm always looking for ways to quench my cravings without actually drinking soda. This is a good way to do that. So far, I've tried the Peach and the Orange Mango flavors. Listen this week for your chance to win a 4-pack sampler of Honest Tea, courtesy of Durango & Farmington Coca-Cola. 4/18/08 - A summit on random drug testing and checks in schools will take place next Thursday (4/24) in Pagosa Springs. The featured speaker will be Dr. Bertha K. Madras, deputy director for the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). The summit will be geared toward middle and high schools in the area. On Tuesday (4/22), Dr. Madras will talk more about the summit as she joins us at about 4:35pm on The Drive. 4/17/08 - It's been a while since the last blog entry, I confess. It's not that nothing is going on...rather the opposite. It's been so busy, I've not had time to update the blog. Anyway, I just wanted to invite you to join us for Tech 101. It's a basic question and answer segment regarding computer and technology issues, featuring Todd Sella of Sella's Computer Service in Cortez. Don't worry about it being too technical. Todd has to dumb it down so I can understand it. And if I can understand it, anyone can. Tech 101 is featured each Thursday at about 4:35pm on The Drive. 2/19/08 - We're looking for the Four Corners region's biggest and deepest road pothole. If you know of a big street crater, snap a photo of it and send it to the e-mail address above. We'll post it on our website. 2/5/08 - I think I can get an interview with former President William Jefferson Clinton...really. When I told my wife about it, she said, "Yah, right." So, tune in today to see if I'm all talk or if I can stand and deliver the 42nd President of the United States. Of course, if it DOES take place, I'll post the interview online in audio format. 1/24/08 - Friday on The Drive, it'll be an abbreviated show...from 4 to 5, as I'm going to have to get out of here to cover high school basketball. Catch Montezuma-Cortez vs. Central, a varsity double-header, starting at 5:30pm Friday on KRTZ. We'll also be streaming the broadcast online. See our main page for more info. 1/14/07 - Today, we'll be passing along Tomorrow's Lunch Today again from Quizno's in Cortez. It's your opportunity to win a free Regular Toasty Combo from Quizno's and KRTZ! Also, listen for an interview with Doug Sparks, membership manager of Empire Electric. The topic will be "saving money on your heating bills". 1/3/07 - Happy New Year from all of us at KRTZ! As we get 2008 going, I have lots of things I'd like to pass on to you...such as "tomorrow's lunch today" from Quizno's of Cortez. Also, listen for Fresh Tracks at 5 for some brand new music...loads of good new music released lately. 12/28/07 - We get the weekend underway, today, with the big drawing for the gas-saving scooter. One lucky listener will enjoy fuel-efficiency in the open air. Also, listen for the interview with local band Florigin and your chance to win Florigin CDs. You'll find the full interview with Florigin in the What's New? section. 12/24/07 - Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from Curtis, Desiree and Kelly, the Drive Crew! Hey, kids, why not track Santa's progress. NORAD, based in Colorado Springs, has a trace on him. Click HERE to see where Santa Claus is! 12/19/07 - Friday is Pie Day around these parts! The lovely Penny at Pippo's in downtown Cortez is passing along some Christmas pies and we're going to give them out to you, our listeners! Listen to The Drive on Friday and hang out near your phone for your chance to win. 12/7/07 - Tomorrow night at the Ute Mountain Casino, Hotel and Resort will be an acoustic evening with Blackfoot. They describe their band as Southern Metal and are veterans on the rock scene. You'll hear an interview with Blackfoot during today's show. It's also Forgotten Oldies Friday, so listen for the Forgotten Oldies Friday track, correctly identify the name of the song and the name of the artist, and you'll win some nice prizes...Christmas music and dinner at Joey's Steak and Chophouse...all on us. 12/4/07 - I'm pleased to welcome The Wild Orchid to the Drive as a sponsor of the program. It's the new Asian cuisine restaurant on East Main in Cortez. Stay tuned for your opportunity to try out The Wild Orchid for free. Also, today, we'll be giving away Tomorrow's Lunch Today courtesy of Quizno's of Cortez. |
